2024 Fèrot - Cabernet Franc Nouveau
2024 Yayoi Wines Fèrot – Cabernet Franc Nouveau –
Franc- Often not left on its own and frequently overshadowed by its more famous offspring, when given the chance, it can bring pure joy.
Blackcurrant | Black cherry | Plum | Raspberry Leaf
This year, I crafted two distinct styles of Cabernet Francs, highlighting the grape's versatility. For Fèrot, I aimed for a lighter, vibrant, and aromatic style reminiscent of Beaujolais, using 100% carbonic fermentation. The result is a fruit-forward, fragrant Cabernet Franc, hand-picked from a 33-year-old dry-grown vineyard in Moorabool Valley, Geelong. Fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve its pure fruit essence, this medium to light-bodied wine is rich in aroma and "juicy" in character, gliding effortlessly on the palate and enjoyed slightly chilled or at room temperature.

“From near 35 year old vines on Moorabool Ridge Estate in Geelong. The wine is produced in stainless steel and set up as a juicy, silky, bright young thing.
Plush, fleshy, bubblegummy, all purple. Dig in. Chill it. Skol. Mulberry and boysenberry with Hubba Bubba dashed with white pepper, sea spray, light aniseed and barely there rosemary herbal inflection. Lighter weight feel in the palate, all juicy and easy flow, a soft landing to finish with a hint of crispness in the lingering flow of pretty fruit and herbiness. Goes great with a chill and likely that’s its best mode. Very appealing, frisky fun.” - Mike Bennie The Winefront
